The 24 letters of the Elder Futhark from around 200 ACE are symbols, sounds, and words, with meanings and stories that tell the history and values of ancient Nordic peoples. With symbols meaning “cow,” “birch,” “lake,” and “ice,” they describe where we live and give advice on how to live.

Explore the three sets of eight runes called ættr (“family groupings”) in three two-hour sessions with Nordic root scholar, performer and author Kari Tauring.  She illustrates each rune with songs, artifacts, story telling, and humor rooted in 30 plus years of scholarship.

Kari Tauring is a Minneapolis based Nordic folk musician, dancer, and storyteller and author of “The Runes: A Deeper Journey”.
