The Illusion of Happiness in Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales—and Beyond

Poul Houe, Professor Emeritus of Scandinavian Languages and Literature at the University of Minnesota will speak not only about the fairytales but also about various theater and film versions of The Little Mermaid and Andersen's relevance to Denmark's image of happiness abroad. 

The event will include performances of songs to texts by Hans Christian Andersen with Soprano Maggie Burr and Jordan Buchholtz on the piano.
